The Client · A leading national medical group

Overview
A leading national medical group engaged Taller across two phases: an RPA assessment of its aging automation estate, and a nearshore replacement of onshore IT roles across RPA and data engineering.
The Problem
The client needed a structural cost reduction: replacing onshore IT with senior nearshore talent across RPA (robotic process automation, meaning software robots that carry out repetitive digital tasks the way a person would), data engineering, and supporting roles. However, this kind of replacement only worked when the incoming talent had the seniority and domain familiarity to operate without the institutional knowledge the departing onshore team took with them.
The Solution
Taller quickly deployed six senior consultants in the first wave: lead, senior, and mid-level RPA developers; a senior data engineer; a Snowflake data engineer; and a Progress OpenEdge developer (for an older database platform the client still ran). The team then expanded as the program absorbed more processes. The lead and senior RPA developers were the operational insurance: they held the methodology while the rest of the team ramped up, and they were the ones working with the client’s business stakeholders through the transition. The Snowflake and OpenEdge roles reflected the two things the client needed handled at once: modern data warehousing for its new analytics, and maintenance of the older systems not yet ready to retire.
The Impact
The accelerator program delivered:
9% reduction in bot-related incidents, earned through the engineering discipline Taller’s senior team brought to the existing bots
cost reduction relative to the onshore baseline
